Hello everyone, and welcome to the Survival Prep Shop. I'm TK, your companion in the pursuit of survival knowledge. As we unpack today's content, take it as a mix of my own adventures and learnings in the art of staying prepared. When a SHTF situation happens, it's highly likely that at some point, you're going to have to know what to do to protect yourself and those you care about. Whenever there's chaos in an area, those intent on doing harm to others will look to find someone to target.
They'll want to steal possessions from you, take your money – and in some cases, cause you physical harm. For the sake of yourself and those you care about, you need to be prepared. One way that you can be prepared is by having the right weapons to defend your home. Remember that by the time someone is close enough to be able to grab you, the stakes become higher.
A person intent on causing harm won't care what he (or she) has to do to subdue you or get you out of his way, so you want to stop a situation as soon as possible. This is why you need to have guns in the home. Sometimes, you won't even have to use it in order to scare off people who intend to rob you or harm you. In many cases, all it takes is for the person to see that you have a gun and he'll run off.
You need a gun that's capable of long range shooting (such as a shotgun) but you also want a smaller one such as a pistol. When there's a SHTF situation going on in your area, you should keep your gun on you at all times. Besides a gun, you could also benefit from having a knife as a weapon. You can keep these on you and in hand to hand combat, and a knife can quickly convince your opponent to leave you alone.
Sometimes, though, the best course of action is to hide – like when you're facing too many opponents. Two to one or three to one are terrible odds and you could get seriously injured or be killed. So if you don't feel your chances of surviving a SHTF situation is in your favor, then hide and remain hidden until the threat has passed. Teach your family members to do the same.
You'll want to know how to defend yourself physically if you don't have access to a weapon. Plus, sometimes, having a self-defense skill is all the weapon that you'll need. When you have the right knowledge and strength, you can use that to your advantage in a survival situation. The reason that it's wise to know martial arts is because it gives you an edge in the event that you can't get to your weapon or you're outnumbered.
Martial arts can even the playing field when you're up against more than one opponent and getting a weapon or hiding isn't an option. You can learn the skills of martial arts by taking classes that teach karate, kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu, Tae kwon do and more.
Thank you for sticking with me to the end of this article. I'm always pleased to share the wisdom I've gained with you, my kindred spirits in resilience. Keep on building your safety and survival savvy! Thanks again.
